| Last chance to make 2009 a success |
[Dec. 5th, 2009|05:08 pm] |
My goals for this year included:
1. pay off some debt 2. find a new job (but I fell pregnant, so didnt)
3. get to the gym more 4. eat more salad and yummy healthy stuff 5. have a social life (hasnt been too bad, but will definately improve over the xmas-new years period) 6. FIND AN APARTMENT (and the hunt continued, so many house dramas this year!) 7. get to my ideal measurements (I lost weight thanks morning sickness, but am now all floppy:( ) 8. Move to Melbourne (yes its an easy one to cross off lol) 9. Save money 10. Buy a flat in St Kilda by June (never happened:( ) 11. Make Steve happy everyday :-)
All in all, not a bad year. I got to travel a bit, and save money, which is always welcome. |

[Dec. 1st, 2009|01:48 am] |
After a while you learn the subtle difference Between holding a hand And chaining a soul And you learn That love doesn't mean leaning And company, doesn't mean security And you begin to learn That kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises... And you begin to accept your defects With your head up and your eyes open With the grace of a woman Not the grief of a child And you learn to build all your roads on today... Because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans And futures have a way of falling down in mid flight After a while, you learn That even sunshine burns if you get too much So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers And you learn That you really can endure That you really are strong And you really do have worth And you learn And you learn With every good-bye You learn |

| another nutter housemate |
[Nov. 30th, 2009|01:19 am] |
Im beginning to think that its US! I mean two bad housemates in a year! But the people we've shared with have assured us that its not. We have lived here for 7 weeks. Literally EVERYTIME I see our housemate she has something new to **** about. First we were too noisy. The toaster pops up too loudly. (never in 10 years of share housing has ANYONE told us we are noisy) Next was the fact that we dont socialise with her (after 12 hour shifts all we do in the house is sleep, and maybe eat one meal in the house a day) Then she wants us to organise a 'household' day every week where we do all the housework together. Since she hasnt seen us do housework, apparently we dont do any (despite the fact that the house is immaculate, we clean when we have time, and dont make a mess in the first place) Then it was the fact we work shifts. We are out at night and sleep in the day. Dispite being told multiple time, that she is free to vacuum or whatever when we are asleep (we wear earplugs) she is complaining that she never knows when we are here (we keep our door shut for privacy) So I said that we'll leave our door open, when not here, so she knows she is free to make noise. And today she a) complains that we left our fan on (washing hanging to dry in our room) and b) that we are always here (when? 6 days a week and 12 hour shifts?!?!) and use more power than her (we already pay 2/3 of the bills!)
Edit to add: oh yeah and the fact that she keeps commenting that Im "always eating" Im F^%&king pregnant and lost 12 kg early on, so of COURSE Im eating! I dont always get to eat at work, so stuff myself when i get home (although I can barely eat a whole sandwich in one sitting) so I graze the whole day.
Im over it. Tonight I just said :anyw"y, Im busy" and walked off. How would you deal with this? Im trying to be polite but she bitches and moans about everything. |

| An interesting Scenario |
[Nov. 24th, 2009|08:28 pm] |
You are in charge of a bomb shelter. There are 10 people who could possibly be put in this shelter, but you only have enough food, water, and supplies to last 6 people for three months. It is your duty to choose the six people who will go into the shelter, leaving the other 4 people to die/figure out something on their own. These are the ten people from whom you can choose:
- a bookkeeper, 31 - the bookkeeper's wife, who is six months pregnant - a black militant, second-year med student - a famous historian and author, 42 - a Hollywood starlet/singer/dancer - a biochemist - a rabbi, 54 - an Olympic athlete (all sports) - a college co-ed** - a policeman with a gun, and they cannot be separated (i.e., no taking the gun and ditching the policeman)
** If you are male, assume the co-ed is female. If you are female, assume the co-ed is male. |

| nothing much to say |
[Nov. 17th, 2009|02:41 pm] |
Working hard before I get to sit on my arse for a few weeks before the baby comes. Hes (I think its a boy, but no confirmation yet) moving heaps, usually when Im trying to sleep or on public transport (I get motion sick/claustrophobic, so something moving inside me doesnt help) Today Im too lazy to walk to the train station and get my bike from yesterday. Just been sorting boxes, doing washing and getting ready to make dinner (spag bog)
Had last week off, the weather was lovely, I got sunburnt (missed 3 patches with the cream, looks weird) but at least my vitamin D levels should be up now :)
Now Im laying on bed exploring the internet.
Not very exciting, I know. |

| Grampians and Ballarat |
[Oct. 6th, 2009|03:55 pm] |
We are going to Halls Gap on the weekend of the 16/17 Oct. Does anyone have any advice or recommendations for hotels or things to do? Deciding between the D'Altons resort and the Grampians motel. Im hoping for a spa, but thats my only request, and will probably do some hiking if its not too wet. Also we are stopping for lunch in Ballarat, any ideas for touristy things to do for an hour or two? Lonely planet isnt very helpful, I was hoping some Melbourians might have suggestions. |

| I want my flying car! |
[Oct. 2nd, 2009|05:04 pm] |
Im an evolutionist. This is purely based on Darwin's Finches. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darwin%27s_finches One of the arguments against evolution is that you cant see it happening. (except you can with the finches) I think we ALL change as circumstances dictate. We gain skills, change careers, relocate to suit our needs. This is evolutions, just on a smaller scale.
That said, by now we should have had flying cars and robot butlers. Im still waiting. |

|
| please please only 3 weeks to go |
[Sep. 27th, 2009|02:40 pm] |
I cant take much more 24/7 sickness! I cant leave the house, in fact I spend my days in bed with a bucket, or laying in the dining room, right next to the loo. This is so horrible. I have renewed respect for my mum, how did she do this? I know it will be worth it, to hold my little one for the first time, but right now when I cant even keep down DRY BREAD its not much comfort. Only one heartbeat on Wednesday, have another check up next week (10 weeks) to double check. Im now praying for twins, a boy and a girl, and then never again! I guess I can check out the drugs available, but Im trying not to touch anything right now.
*Sigh*
Looking at two share houses today, fingers crossed. We are planning for another 6 months in Melbourne, and then will see how we go for the end of the year. Steve is homesick for Albany.
Me, Im just sick. |

| University workload |
[Aug. 26th, 2009|11:01 pm] |
Ive enrolled in a unit at Uni this semester, and Ive just realised the work load is UNBELIEVABLE! There are around 10 readings a week, and some of these readings have 50+ questions to answer. So if you spend 1 minute per question (unlikely), thats over 8 hours a week just READING for this unit. Its only a second year undergraduate degree, weighted equally to my other units which require 4-5 hours a week for readings, lectures and assessment preparation.
I am not particularly interested in the unit content, I just need the credit points to finish my degree.
I havent paid for this unit yet, (although the texts were $50 and Ive bought those already) and have 1 week to withdraw with no penalty.
Would you stay in this unit, or un-enrol and do an 'easier' unit? |
